The University of Kansas Specialized Chemistry Center (SCC) has the following openings:
Staff Scientists (MS & PhD level)
Assistant Project Manager Position Description
The University of Kansas Specialized Chemistry Center is a part of the Molecular Libraries Probe Production Centers Network (MLPCN). The nine centers of the MLPCN carry out high-throughput screening and hit-to-lead chemical optimization dedicated to the discovery of new small molecules for biomedical research. We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager who is interested in working at the advanced chemistry/biology interface. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with world-class screening centers across the entire MLPCN (see mlpcn.nih.gov for an overview) and with biologists who have successfully submitted competitive proposals for high-throughput assays. This is academic, publication-driven research in a unique scientific environment.
The Assistant Project Manager will:
• Participate
by working with chemists to provide analogs, while reporting
and analyzing biological screening data (SAR) and making recommendations
for subsequent SAR exploration.
• Draft preliminary project plans and lead discussions
and projects in consultation with some of the top biologists
across the United States.
• Engage with and benefit from full-time informatics and
analysis/purification support.
• Draw a highly competitive salary.
• Work in brand-new, beautifully equipped facilities on
the KU West Campus.
Successful applicants should have a PhD in chemistry or medicinal chemistry and strong synthetic skills. We are looking for highly motivated, team-oriented, synthetic/medicinal chemists who are capable of providing medicinal chemistry support and SAR analysis. Interested applicants should go to https://jobs.ku.edu for additional information and to submit a formal online application along with a cover letter, CV, and contact information for 3 professional references (search for position #00207746). Review of applications begins on 8/21/09 and position remains open until filled. For specific questions regarding this position, please contact Jeff Aubé at jaube@ku.edu or 785-864-4496.
